Clubs

All Australian Amateur Radio Clubs are listed in the WIA Call book. The WIA Call book is like the white pages for Radio Amateurs and lists everything from repeater frequencies and locations to names and addresses of every Ham in Australia.

The WIA call book can be purchased directly from the WIA bookshop or Dick Smith Electronics.

Gladesville Amateur Radio Club (GARC)

Gladesville ARC in Sydney are well known and respected for their efforts in eduction. They conduct regular classes at their club house, have eductional videos for hire and broadcast electronics classes from their Amateur Television (ATV) repeater located in The Blue Mountains west of Sydney.

Ron Bertrand (VK2DQ)

Ron is a the same man who appears in the Gladesville ARC video tapes.

Ron runs an online Ham Radio course via E-Mail. Courses are always running and will take you from knowing nothing about electronics through to AOCP level and beyond.

Currently there are 4 groups of students, all at various stages of the course. Each group is enrolled in an E-mail discussion group where questions and study material is posted. Each group has a facilitator that guides the student and answers any questions that they may have.

The course is free of charge and the facilitators are volunteers.

The courses started in mid 1999 and to date the success rate for new Hams has been excellent, I highly recomment this course

Steve Hurst (KA7NOC)

Steve has an excellent site dedicated to digital modes. His site also contains a great help section for learning the Morse code. With everything from types of Morse keys to tutorials and tips on learning the code.
