Well finally Perfect Dark arrives on the English shores, nearly 3 years in the making and is it what all you N64 owners are expecting. I can say yes it is and 10 times more. |

To start this review I have to say I have spent nearly 20hours playing the single game, and roughly the same time playing the deathmatch. Just to show games are addictive. So you have played the golden eyes solo game a thought bloody hell this is the best, let me do it again. Well PD is sort of that, some of the solo missions resemble golden eye. Like the first level, it stars of easy and right at the end guards are every where what do I do 1 clip left and it is a pistol, you have to get every shot a head shot or that's it left with your fists as weapons, weak but affective. This all equals fun. And there is the control level of GE, protect that women from getting shot, well yet again that pops up in PD, towards the end as well, but this still equals fun. All the missions are different though, the story links together with ease, so it's easy to follow and understand. |

Now the multi game. Golden Eye but millions better. Four player deathmatch, 2 v 2, team warfare with added computer player and solo missions but with a friend. Every single bit of the multi game is fun. Creep up behind someone and pop a cap in someone's head, and then laugh hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…… |

When you first turn on the N64 you see a great intro with the N64 logo turning into the PD logo, great, and then another intro Joanna Dark (main character) landing on top of the Datadyne rooftop, great stuff. When you enter the first level you get a Golden Eye sort of briefing and after that a Golden Eye camera spin round into back of head move, great stuff again. |
When you get into the building you see lights all over the place each one given out visible light. Walk past a light and the light shines on your gun all so realistic, and there's more. Shoot a guard in the head and he slumps to the floor with a scream look behind him and there is a huge bloodstain on the wall and on the floor the same thing lots of blood. This time around the dead bodies don't disappear straight away, they take ages to go, so no getting lost. |
Oh yeah and the weapons, 40+ some pistols some machine guns some alien stuff and lots of explosives, they all make their own sound and reload animation. Pistols you can get double, and each weapon also has a secondary function, pistols usual have hit with butt of gun or machine guns have grenade launcher on them or scope vision, over all you could have nearly 100 weapons. The cheat to get golden eye weapons makes that a huge amount of weapons. With that there is a training mission to help you get the hand of these weapons, its sort of a target range. With the weapons you get little gadgets to help. Like x-ray vision or a floating spy to see what's ahead, yet again a lot of them there is and the training mission at the start helps you get to grips with them. |
So over all PD is the greatest 1st person shooter ever to arrive on the N64. The best graphics around, great story, super action and the best multiplaying game there is and with a total over 40+ weapons this is what makes PD such a great game, Rare Ware have done it again and proclaimed there selves the greatest game designers since Golden Eye. |
