I am sure many of you, watched in alarm over the recent developments that have occurred in the North-East corner of the mapp: Firstly, the breakdown of negotiations between my nation, Buenos Altos and Meijing; followed by an unprovoked, sudden attack by Gorditas on Buenos Altos; the war and subsequent surrender of Rattenjeetland to Gorditas and Lindsholm. In all of the cases, diplomacy was abandoned in favor of military action.
In the case of my nation’s preemptive strike, the justification is the revelation of bad diplomatic faith when Meijing was in the process of militarizing while engaging in negotiations with our country, DESPITE the fact that Meijing had agreed NOT TO MILITARIZE while negotiations were being held.
The Prime Minister of Gorditas justifies his attack by saying his acting in defense of Meijing and the rest of the mapp, from my nation’s expansionist thirst. As a rebuttal, I stand by my nation’s attack on Meijing as the only recourse of action that was left available. For more information before you pass judgment on this crisis, consult the press releases and news articles released during this crisis.
For events regarding Rattanjeetland, Lindsholm and Gorditas, I have no comment as I was not involved in those events.
However, all these events share similar “themes” that should be avoided to stop the bloodshed. These “themes” are:
- The breakdown of diplomacy
- The imposition of one nation’s will over another as a settlement of a dispute
And we see glimpses of these “themes”, more specifically, the ‘imposition of one nation’s will over another’ in the treaty drafted by Gorditas. A treaty that was drafted without the input of Buenos Altos nor Rattanjeetland, nor Mejing for that matter. To avoid this, I am asking for Congressional Parliament to settle this situation. The origins of this conflict arose from international concern for the justification Buenos Altos’ attack on Meijing. In fact, a press release by Gorditas states that the Prime Minister acted on behalf of all citizens of the mapp, to “uphold…the proliferation of peace and order”. Since Gorditas attack on Buenos Altos was because of international concern, and not because of ulterior motives, Congressional Parliament should be involved before more blood is shed. Consequently, I am formally asking the Secretary General of Congressional Parliament, to form a committee that will examine and resolve the Buenos Altos-Meijing Crisis. As well, to ensure complete fairness, I ask that a neutral power chair (I have contacted and I recommend Siggary, as the Queen has agreed to consider the offer) this committee and that none of the involved powers nor their allies (Gorditas, Lindsholm, Marcusburg, Meijing, Rattanjeetland, and Buenos Altos) will have a say in the final judgment deciding the fate of Buenos Altos and Meijing. They will be given only the right to voice their concerns to this committee.
By involving Congressional Parliament, I hope to avoid further bloodshed.
Lord Somerset
