THE HANSEATIC LEAGUE'S CASE
Citation of Precident: According to the rules of international diplomacy, a territorial claim must be made prior to the deployment of troops in order for said troop deployment not to be considered a bellicose and invasive measure. Since no territorial claim was made prior to the dispatch of Lindsholm and Gorditan troops to a part of the Hanseatic League, this dispatch is therefore an invasion and not a police action, peace effort, or stabilising initiative. Retroactive territorial claims are not acceptable in these cases.
Interpretation of Precident: The territory in question, that portion of Buenos Altos not occupied by Rattan, has only been claimed by the Hanseatic League. Neither Rattan, nor anyone else has made a formal counterclaim for it. Therefore, in the absence of such a counterclaim, it is implicitly evident that the Hanseatic claim is recognised. Since neither Lindsholm nor Gorditas has claimed this territory, their military occupation of it can therefore be seen as an AGGRESSIVE, DESTABILISING ACT, and an AFFRONT TO HANSEATIC TERRITORIAL SOVEREIGNTY. Thus, members of the congressional parliament, directors of the defensecorps, the peoples of the Hanseatic League humbly request that you aid us in achieving redress for these heinous crimes against us.
Praetor Caius Maximus Ahenobarbus,
Chief of Defense Staff
Hanseatic League, SPQH
