The Calm Before the Storm
Lindsholm Drawn into the Dickensian Fiasco

Following the annexation of Dickens Peninsula by Rattanjeetland, the Universalistic Dictator of DP in a refugee camp in East El-Hussaq announced that he had ceded his formerly controlled territory to the Republic of Lindsholm. The move prompted the Supreme Viceroy of Lindsholm to confront the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland about the matter of Dickensian ownership.

Still hurting from the events of Empire Day by which a large section of Marcusburg-occupied Rattanjeetland territory was annexed by Lindsholm in a military debacle, the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland was hostile to the confrontation. One misinterpretation led to another and soon thereafter deterioration of relations between Lindsholm and Rattanjeetland were well under way.

In his press release of October 16, the Supreme Viceroy closed off the border between Rattanjeetland and Lindsholm, arrested Rattanjeetlanders in Lindsholm, embargoed Rattanjeetland, and has put forth a motion in Congressional Parliament that only four great powers exist, that is, the five sans Rattanjeetland. The Supreme Viceroy also hinted towards leading a humanitarian mission into Dickens Peninsula.

One day later, the Ethnarch countered by issuing a press release of his own. Rattanjeetland is mimicking the Lindsholmian actions against its citizens and has made a request for a ruling from CP over the legal ownership of DP. As well, an emergency session of the Great Powers Forum has also been requested.

On top of the diplomatic escalation, the tone of each press release has grown increasingly nasty. Starting from the pamphlets released in Dickensian refugee camps depicting the Ethnarch as a terrorist, the Supreme Viceroy of Lindsholm has begun referring to the Ethnarch as 'Jeeta bin Lardy' - a clear reference to a well-known terrorist organization. The comments have enraged and infuriated the Rattanjeetland population. Effigies of the Supreme Viceroy are being burned around the clock in Rattanjeetland parks and many Rattanjeetarr homes are displaying defaced Lindsholm flags. Many people are stocking up on food, medicine, and supplies - a sure sign that war is imminent.
