Meijing Invades Vaticon City
Resistance Destroyed, Progressive Regime Established

At 12:04 PM on October 24, 2001, the Pharaoh of Meijing launched an assault on Vaticon City claiming that the latter needed the progressive reforms of the Pharaoh to counteract years of neglect under Dope Con Paul II. Rumors circulating about a Meijingnese attack were hastily dismissed by Vaticonian officials in the months preceding the invasion.

An initial task force assigned to securing the Vaticonian parliament under Meijingnese control was unsuccessful in its mission, prompting a brief period of air strikes by the Meijingnese military. Following bombing, Vaticon City put aside its desperate attempts at conscription and surrendered to Meijing. Bombs dropped by the air strikes were imprecise and hit various civilian encampments in Vaticon City. Casualties are estimated by Congressional Parliament to be around 17,735.

The invasion has been termed a domestic incident by members of the Platinum Nexus and third parties have been urged not to intervene. However, in an interesting sign of domestic upheaval, the Pharaoh of Meijing made public a deal to siphon 10% of the Vaticonian cashflow per month to the Republic of Gorditas. Meanwhile, Dope Con Paul II, in exile in a Marcusburg hotel, has vowed to fight back.
