Natharctica Abdicates
Negligent Ruler Hands Over Power to Siggary

The negligent Natharctican head of state carried through on a threat to Congressional officials earlier this year by abdicating on November 9, 2001. As an institution committed to Mapp diversity, Congressional Parliament had always encouraged developing nations such as Natharctica to take a proactive role in their domestic affairs. Sometimes this encouragement comes in the form of meetings with the negligent head of state in the hope that progress will occur.

When confronted with the reality of the decaying Natharctican economy, its stagnating population, and primitive quality of life earlier in the year, the Natharctican head of state ordered the Parliament to stay out of domestic Natharctican affairs or else risk provoking abdication. The Parliament abided by his wishes and the country was allowed to rot as the head of state saw fit.

Tensions reignited as a whirlwind tour of developing nations by Congressional officials to drum up support for participation in the Congress of Pauldelphia included a stop to Natharctica. At the very sight of black Mercedes limousines, the Natharctican head of state called the Secretary-General and announced his abdication to the Republic of Siggary. The Queen of Siggary was notified immediately although she has not taken any action to acknowledge the abdication.

Due to the Natharctican head of state's months of neglect and abuse, Natharctica silently entered the sphere of influence belonging to Rattanjeetland. As a result, the abdication requires official approval from the Ethnarch. At present, the Parliament has not been able to get through to Rattanjeetland.
