Novara Declares Independence
Lady D'Okavango Acquires Jaredian Support

On the evening of January 4, 2001, the Lady D'Okavango returned to Novara after an almost year-long vacation in Jangstown. Rejuvenated from her holiday, the Lady began to implement a series of reforms in her country. However, she soon hit immediate roadblocks brought on by Rattanjeetarr protection and in a surprise announcement, declared outright independence from Rattanjeetland.

Shortly thereafter, the Emm of Jared called the Lady to declare his nation's recognition of Novaran independence. Emboldened by the call, the Lady then announced a merger between her nation and Josephville - a dream both nations had shared for over half a year. Within minutes, the Emm proclaimed his support for a merger between the two countries from the press centre in Blackadder Castle. Immediately afterwards, the Lady flew to Josephville using her private jet where she received the official approval of the Proconsul for a merger.

The intense pace of these developments has not allowed the Ethnarch time to respond. In the meantime, the Lady and the Proconsul enjoy their newfound independence and togetherness. As a side note, there are various reports of a mysterious official pulling into and away from the Maison D'Okavango in Novara in a black Mercedes bearing the Jaredian flag. The rumors are unconfirmed.
