Gorditas Attacks Buenos Altos
On the evening of January 9, 2001, the Republic of Gorditas launched a surprise attack on Buenos Altos. For weeks, the Pharaoh of Meijing had been pleading with the international community for assistance after being invaded in the Phoney War.
The conflict began when the Gorditan air force rapidly bombed troops stationed in Buenos Altos and Meijing in a lightning-fast attack. Civilians and Meijingese were killed in the raid as the bombs fell indiscriminately. After throwing the enemy into disarray, the Prime Minister ordered his elite forces to occupy the captured Meijingese missile battery.
As the citizens of Meijing cheered in the streets, a Buenos Altan general ordered the nation's army to attack the Romulus province of Gorditas. After marching through New Weimar, the troops were defeated and the Prime Minister ordered more intense air raids into Buenos Altos as retaliation. The B.A. elite forces base took a beating but remains functional.
An urgent telegram from Lord Somerset to the Prime Minister temporarily halted live fire in the northeast for awhile. Following brisk negotiation, both parties agreed to a temporary ceasefire that expires on midnight Sunday. The situation is still tense and many citizens in B.A. feel deeply betrayed by their former Gorditan ally.
