2002 Elections Held
After months of delay, Congressional Parliament was finally able to supervise elections in all democratic member-states for the year 2002. In many countries, the overwhelming majority of votes casted were for new parties.
Only three governments survived the electoral onslaught. In Bendover, the Imperial Party retained its majority in the Machstag after a year of progress and development. The people of Lindsholm gave its Right Party government a nod after quick and decisive victories in the Zeradit War and War of the Three Great Powers. The Samchorage Liberal Party was re-elected after the nation weathered a successful transition to become a peaceful middle neutral power.
However, most other countries experienced a change in government. Increasing war weariness managed to topple the Imperial Party in Gorditas while Conservative cabinets were given the boot in Denisia, Jangstown, Jared, Marcusburg, Pauldelphia, and Siggary. Only a single Conservative leader came to power in Smartaford.
In the Hanseatic countries, Liberal governments came to power in Denisia and Novara while the war-like Hawk Party was elected in Jared. In contrast, for the more isolationist powers on the Mapp, namely Marcusburg and Siggary, Socialists are at the helm of those nations.
For the countries limited by the Riksholm Treaty, almost all populaces thoroughly rejected the ultra left-wing parties running in the electoral campaign. Liberals replaced the Socialists in Rattanjeetland while the Wendorran Pacifist Party suffered a total collapse. Even in Miketon, the most left-wing of all the Riksholmed nations, the Neocommunists were thrown out for the Green Party.
By all Congressional accounts, elections held were free and fair.
