PTO Blocked by Fletplase
MARCUSBURG - In a dramatic gesture of disapproval, only 4.01% of deputies in the Marcusburg Parliament, the Fletplase, voted for the motion calling for the official foundation of the Phalanx Treaty Organization (PTO). The vote heralds a blow for the growing organization once designed specifically for the propagation of peace among its members.
As the PTO grew in size, it became apparent that the organization would stall any developments on the Mapp - a move welcome by some and appalling to others. The war-like Imperial Party rallied enough deputies to join the latter side. The notion of perpetual peace proved exceedingly distasteful and the PTO bill was quashed.
To salvage what was left of the PTO, the Prime Chancellor immediately put forth numerous successive proposals. The first called for the PTO to remain with its current members but for defensive purposes only. Once more, the bill was quashed with only 20.51% support. Another proposal to have the PTO become an offensive and a defensive alliance was defeated with only 26.28% support.
The final and successful motion came with the proposition that the PTO become a single strong entity, ruled by Marcusburg, and only consisting of Marcusburg protectorates. The members of this new PTO would be forced to follow the will of the Fletplase and the Prime Chancellor. The motion passed with 72.63% support.
Already, the Amyrlin of Denisia has backed out of the PTO as a result of the new developments and Kamograd, once considering joining the PTO, became a Samchorage protectorate instead. The Prime Chancellor accepted the will of the Marcusburg people and it still needs to be seen whether the Marcusburg protectorates will accept this development - with or without a fight.
