Middle Trade Emerges

STELDORADO - In a rare event on the Mapp, a few middle powers are taking control of their own economies in an indirect assertion of independence.

Although some middle nations do trade, they are part of a larger economic network dominated by the Great and Major powers. However, a recent frenzy of trade deals from Rotterloo and Steldorado have launched them to the top of investors' lists. In the past few weeks, both nations have signed agreements with Doragrad, Gorditas, Kafobrena, Marcusburg, Siggary, and Wingtucky. Interestingly the two countries have not decided to trade with one another. Government insiders point out that this fact reflects a growing rivalry between Rotterloo and Steldorado for middle power economic supremacy.

Meanwhile, both nations are infusing millions of dollars into the their national economies by founding new industries and opening up new multinational corporations. Already Rotterloo is poised to monopolize the office equipment industry while Steldorado takes gardening.

The newfound enthusiasm and energy from Rotterloo and Steldorado have spilled over to other middle powers as well. Doragrad, for example, has started experimenting with a few industries on its own but hasn't gone so far as to open companies. To reflect the new spirit of her country, the High Commissioner approved a new flag that was hoisted for the first time in a national ceremony. Not to be outdone, however, the High Priestess of Steldorado is planning to unveil a flag of her own soon.
