Denisian Embargo Lifted

MARCUSBURG - Yesterday the Secretary-General of the Congressional Parliament summoned the Great Powers Forum to convene over the issue of the Denisian embargo.

The unusual measure was taken because holding a Congress, the medium through which these sorts of issues are resolved, for one issue alone would have been time-consuming and unnecessary. Today the final power, Rattanjeetland, casted the deciding vote and lifted the Congressional embargo on the Amrylin's Republic.

The final tally was 3-1 in favour of ending the embargo, with Lindsholm refusing to vote on the issue. When asked why they helped terminate the economic punitive measure, both Marcusburg and Rattanjeetland stated that Denisia no longer needed to carry the burden of an illegal action committed by a Hanseatic League that is vastly different from that of today. Although no official comment was made, experts suspect that favourable relations between Denisia and Siggary led to the latter's vote in the Forum.

In voting no, the Gorditan Congressional ambassador claimed that because the Amrylin did not petition for the embargo's lifting, there was no reason to change the current economic situation. The Lindsholmic ambassador, however, did not justify his nation's refusal to vote. Many find the move unsurprising due to that country's long history of apathy towards international affairs.

In Denisia the response so far has been muted. Shopkeepers and scientists carry about on their daily business much as they did during the embargo. The general mood in the country reflects the disillusionment of many Denisians towards a Congressional Parliament they view as biased, corrupt, and ineffective.
