EAST EL-HUSSAQ - After an informal meeting of East El-Hussaqi, Gorditan, Lindsholmic, and Marcurean plenipotentiaries at a resort in the El-Hussaq Republic, the GX delegates have returned home to draft a formal treaty.
Sources say the meeting, held on January 21, was a success, as traditional Confederate-Nexus enmities were put aside during the talks. Unlike in the past, many cabinet members in GX countries are optimistically discussing the reunification of the El-Hussaqs. Ironically, the newfound momentum comes after Congressional Parliament chose not to endorse reunification following the Congress of Wilhelmplatz. West El-Hussaq is controlled by the GX - a legacy of the Nexkrieg in the Cold War era.
Most surprisingly, sources in the GX say that in the days after the meeting, a Lindsholmic initiative to combine neorikspolitik into the talks was adopted by Gorditas and Marcusburg. The move may revive the neorikspolitik campaign, which has suffered from setbacks in Samchorage due to its involvement in Wendorra la Vella and New Weimar, and in Miketon where the CEO has only half-heartedly attempted to seek new negotiations.
In the meantime, plenipotentiaries in Marcusburg have been busily drafting a copy of the treaty that represents a concrete proposal from the GX. At a press conference, a spokesperson for the Prime Chancellor hoped that the treaty would wipe away the burdens of the past to make room for more amicable relations between his country and a reunified El-Hussaq.
However, East El-Hussaqi officials remain anxious about the situation, as current events are by far the most promising development towards reunification in history. As a result, the Marcusburg observer in the East El-Hussaqi parliament has been summoned before President El Cid II no less than three times over the past week.
