SHANNLI - The Great Powers Forum (GPF) of Congressional Parliament (CP) today authorized the first ever deployment of the Defensecorps to defend Shannli.

The Congressional rapid reaction force, made up of a multilateral 50,000 troop body, was ordered into Shannli by the Secretary-General at 11:35AM after the Rattanjeetarr ambassador to CP voted in favour of Resolution 11. Although the resolution had passed the night before, the Secretary-General wanted a more unanimous result before dispatching the force. The Lindsholmic CP ambassador abstained.

Immediately after the Secretary-General's orders, the Miketonian and Pauldelphian CP ambassadors ran to the communications centre in CP headquarters to call the CEO and the Imperatore respectively using secure lines. While Pauldelphian officials fretted, Miketon quickly devised a plan to defuse the situation.

The Miketonian plan imposes a deadline on the evening of March 4, 2003 for the Princess of Shannli to respond to the situation or else Miketon and Pauldelphia would partition and annex the country. After some confusion and characteristic hesitation, the Pauldelphians agreed to the plan.

While the Defensecorps uneasily settled into Shannli beside Miketonian and Pauldelphian troops, Congressional agents had located the Princess in exile on the afternoon of February 28. The agents recorded her as lamenting the invasion of her country and that she wants peace to return to Shannli. CP has encouraged the Princess to make a formal statement and awaits her response.
