A Superpower Military Coup
For the first time in nearly three years, the military supremacy of Marcusburg has been seriously challenged.

With only a 40,000 man gap between the armed forces of Lindsholm and Marcusburg, military analysts speculate the raw military strengths of both countries are at par.

The development comes after the construction of a superbase in Lindsholm in addition to a large investment in other military expenditures. In contrast, the Prime Chancellor of Marcusburg opened the new tallest building on the Mapp located in Adonf province.

The news is mostly symbolic since both countries have consistently taken radically different stances towards the armed forces. While Lindsholm prizes itself as the "military" arm of the GX - the alliance to which Lindsholm and Marcusburg belong - Marcusburg strives to be the diplomat.

Still, the news comes as a shock to many Marcureans who worry that the international order may be upset. Word from the Marcusburg Foreign Office is that such a prospect is unlikely. Noting the historic friendship between the two countries and the current strength of bilateral ties, officials stated that business will continue as normal.

However, some observers suggest that a "friendly" arms race of sorts may erupt between Lindsholm and Marcusburg. Already there are generals in the Marcusburg military arguing that the country is letting its allies down by neglecting the armed forces.

Others are hesitant when it comes to boosting the military, fearing that it could exacerbate an already much-skewed balance of power on the Mapp that currently lies to the GX.
