Having suffered a diplomatic defeat in trying to get Neodickensian forces out of Kafobrena, Rattanjeetland decided enough was enough after New Dickens occupied the Weimaran occidental colony.

Bypassing the Congressional apparatus, the Ethnarch took military action to make sure that the fate of the oppressed powers wouldn't be wrapped up in red tape. Rattanjeetarr spies were sent into the former Kafobrenan colony with the mission of making Neodickensian soldiers defect.

However, the agents failed and were exposed. Before the Universalistic Dictator had a chance to react, at 8:39PM on June 5, 2003, the Ethnarch launched an electromagnetic shockwave into New Dickens, literally tearing up the earth on which a military base once stood.

Trying to capitalize, more Rattanjeetarr spies entered New Dickens, trying to topple the government. Like their predecessors, they failed as well. Before Neodickensian agents could arrest the spies, another shockwave obliterated the last remaining military base in New Dickens, effectively crippling the country's ability to fight.

The shockwave also destroyed an urgent convoy dispatched by the Universalistic Dictator to Elanyons. The impormptu envoy's objective was to request assistance from the Buenaltan ambassador, who was attending a recital of the Elanyons National Orchestra that evening.

In the meantime, Rattanjeetarr generals received the go-ahead to begin much-needed reforms to the army. With New Dickens' ability to fight put in serious question, the Ethnarch contacted the Universalistic Dictator with the intent of beginning negotiations in a temporary state of peace.

The talks soon became a war of misinformation to the international community. Amidst Neodickensian claims that the Ethnarch attempted to bribe New Dickens with immunity in Congressional Parliament, Rattanjeetland claimed that New Dickens had agreed to let the fate of the former Kafobrenan colony be decided by international courts.

That assertion was quickly rebuked by the Universalistic Dictator who charged that the Ethnarch agreed to sacrifice New Weimar for Kafobrena. Not surprisingly, the negotiations reached a stalemate after New Dickens demanded the return of Old Dickens Peninsula, which had been conquered by Rattanjeetland long ago in Operation Enduring Blubber.

At 9:41PM, the Ethnarch released an ultimatum to New Dickens, calling on the Dictator to remove his troops from Kafobrena and Rattanjeetland will not seek any reparations from New Dickens whatsoever.

Meanwhile, Rattanjeetarr forces are more than ready to invade New Dickens, as the Ethnarch secured temporary right of passage agreements through Pauldelphia on June 4 and Denisia earlier on June 5.
