The Embargo Lobby
Sources indicate that the Imperatore of Pauldelphia is vigorously lobbying key countries to lift the economic embargo that has devastated his grand trading empire.

Although still one of the most propserous nations on the Mapp, the tidalwave of money to government coffers has dwindled to a mere trickle after the international community imposed an economic embargo on Pauldelphia in March 2003 as punishment for its invasion of Shannli, known as the Phekal Matter.

For months, officials from the country have been quietly and vocally voicing their opposition to anyone who would hear them. In fact, a few Pauldelphians have even wrote to Congressional Parliament demanding that the 'grave injustice' committed against their country be remedied.

As a result, in the current Congress of Rotterloo, the international community is given the chance to lift the embargo. In the meantime, Pauldelphian officials are trying their best to ensure that this opportunity does not go to waste.

Sources within the Parthenon of the Decemprimi say that the Imperatore has sent out key cabinet ministers to hold high-level meetings with a few of the Great Powers whose veto may overturn a decision that would lift the embargo. They report that talks in Rattanjeetland are holding great promise even though when asked, officials in either country declined to comment.

While Congressional officials acknowledge the severe econmic downturn in Pauldelphia caused by the punitive economic measures, they also counter that the country has more money than all of the emerging powers combined. Analysts contend that it is yet too early to tell whether Pauldelphia will be financially liberated. Will the intense lobbying pay off? Only time will tell.
