An abundance of new land in Terra Occidentale has led to the formation of gigantic suburbs that some argue is just another dirty tactic in the never-ending struggle to enlarge one's country.
The most striking example is the ambitious Lindsholmic scheme of connecting the Xenoholm and Dajilholm provinces through Occidentale. In fact, this effort has blocked off the infamous Far West Corridor through which Neodickensian troops passed to conquer parts of Kafobrena and New Weimar last month.
As well, Lindsholmic houses have effectively contained the expansion of Denisia, Miketon, and Pauldelphia into the new land. Although officials from all three nations are upset over this development, there have been no complaints filed to Congressional Parliament. Elanyons and Doragrad have also seen their prospective territory shrink as Lindsholm grows.
However, Lindsholm is not the only power pursuing suburban sprawl as a means of getting more land. In the north at Fallopia, Rattanjeetland has broken ground on an enormous suburb that threatens to envelop nearby growing Stevensk.
More to the south in Stochastion, Marcusburg also has started developing a large neighbourhood as a key component of the new province. However, new houses in this part of Occidentale are less likely to raise eyebrows as Stochastion's immediate neighbours are Lizbonn and Kamostopol, both Marcurean spheres of influence.
Because land remains somewhat plentiful, the suburban sprawl has largely gone without effect. Many suspect that once the pool of free territory dries up, 'land usurping' in the far west may be one of the main factors that could destabilize the long period of continuous peace that has led to unprecedented economic growth on the Mapp.
