Ethnarch Orders Jenneva Returned
RATTANJEETLAND - On January 3, 2001, the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland, returning from
a month-long vacation at his resort in Lipasia, heard the pleas of the ruler of Jenneva, who requested
assistance in her attempt to retake control of her nation, now annexed by Kamograd. The saga of the
Jenneva Crisis stems from the great Confederate expansion directly following the Anticlimax. In November,
Wendorra la Vella, Noe, Steldorado, and Jenneva fell to the Confederacy. All but one nation has settled
its dispute - that nation is Jenneva. Right after Kamograd conquered Jenneva in a training exercise, it
became an El-Hussaqi protectorate. Immediately afterwards, it joined the Confederacy.
Still reeling from the Anticlimax, the world did nothing to counter the aggression. With time, however,
Congressional Parliament began its pursuit of justice. In the Congress of El-Hussaq, voting nations decided
that military action against Kamograd was in order. The Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland vetoed the decision while
the Proconsul of Josephville decided to abstain from vetoing. The Prime Chancellor of Marcusburg withheld his
decision - it is pending to this very day.
The Prime Chancellor used his ability to counterveto as a bargaining chip with Kamograd. In prolonged
negotiations, the President of Kamograd was persuaded to propose a deal to the ruler of Jenneva, currently in
exile in Marcusburg. The proposal gives Jenneva very limited control of her territory, as Kamograd learned from
the Gotterdammerung, in that Jenneva would become a Kamogradian province and its ruler would only have
economic sovereignty. Even then all World Bank loans need to be approved by the Kamograd President. The Prime
Chancellor, although unimpressed with the proposal, agreed to convey it to the ruler of Jenneva. Unfortunately,
the Jennevan ruler has gone underground and could not be reached.
Frustrated by the lack of progress in the Jenneva Crisis and reluctant to experiment with the newly created
Defensecorps (as mandated by Congressional Parliament), the Prime Chancellor went straight to the Ethnarch
at his resort in Lipasia. Once there, an agreement was reached - the Ethnarch ordered 3/4 of Jenneva to be
returned to its rightful owner. The Secretary-General of Congressional Parliament approves. Now the fate of the
deal lies in the hands of the Kamograd President. On a side note, the Ethnarch has ordered "allnations status"
on the Confederacy, meaning no nation may leave or enter the organization.
