The Cheertators of Zimbabmei have issued an ultimatum to Octavton. Because the Principal Councillor cancelled a free trade pact with the country, Octavton must cede all land, money, and people to Zimbabmei by 5:00 PM MST on Thursday, March 25, 2004 or face war.
As part of his country's ambitious plans to expand politically and economically, the Principal Councillor of Octavton had signed free trade and non-aggression pacts with Zimbabmei. However, fearful of competition and potential exploitation of new countries by established powers, Octavton soon formed the Neocivic Alliance.
This alliance aimed to limit the amount of trade between member-states and established powers to four multinationals each. When Octavian representatives went to renegotiate the terms of trade with Zimbabmei, talks fell through and trade between the two countries stopped on March 15.
A few days later Zimbabmei cancelled its non-aggression pact with Octavton in protest. The Cheertators then claimed that the cessation of trade with Octavton had angered their people and only war would satisfy their demands. Thus an ultimatum was issued on March 24.
By the terms of the Eastern Bloc, Octavton notified the Igoslavian government which then blasted Zimbabmei for its aggression.
In the meantime, the Octavian government contacted Congressional Parliament for assistance. Because Octavton is a nascent power, it falls under automatic Congressional protection for a period of three months after its founding.
The Secretary-General then put forth Resolution 18 to the Great Powers Forum to determine what kind of assistance the international community would offer.
Later on the evening of March 24, four of the Great Powers - Gorditas, Lindsholm, Marcusburg, and Rattanjeetland - voted in favour of deploying the Defensecorps in Octavton for that country's protection. In addition, Rattanjeetland offered to send 100,000 troops to Octavton for its protection.
