Octavton Founds Empire
Within the span of a week, the bustling trading hub of Octavton has forged an empire that spans the entire Mapp.

From its very inception, Octavton acted like a major power. Under the leadership of the Principal Councillor, the country became the epicentre of many regional political and economic initiatives such as the Eastern Bloc and the Terra Exortus Exchange (TXE).

However in March 2004, Octavton quickly came under pressure as the leading country in the region.

In that month, an economic dispute with Zimbabmei almost led to war, averted only by Rattanjeetarr intervention. Nevertheless, Octavton faced a constant threat posed by Zimbabmei as hostility between two countries was dramatically overt.

Meanwhile, neighbours in the region began challenging Octavton for the title of leading country of Terra Exortus. In the south, the Hongolians had founded a thriving capital city and in the west, a rapidly expanding Herwan had blocked off Octavian expansion to the river.

Continuously rapid economic growth between the three countries led to an equilibrium of sorts until June when a Hongolian initiative to administer Ichiben and Soozhou through Responsible Determination ultimately led to the destruction of this balance of power.

After Ichiben and Soozhou wound up under Herwanese control, the Principal Councillor quickly sought to reestablish equilibrium by acquiring Lebrianon as a mandate. Hongolia soon did its part by annexing West El-Hussaq with the GX's blessing.

However in July this tense equilibrium would be disrupted once more when a wave of revolutions and riots hit countries around the Mapp, leading to abdications and instability.

This presented Herwan with a golden opportunity that it quickly exploited. By mid-July, the Herwanese had acquired both Danikistan and Novara, leading to the establishment of a global empire.

Although the sudden elevation of Herwan greatly alarmed the international community, no countries were more concerned than Octavton and Hongolia. Fearful at the risk of being left behind, the Octavians quickly pursued an expansionist agenda.

On July 19, the Tamarkian ambassador to Congressional Parliament announced that under political pressure from Octavton and Pauldelphia, the Commissioner of that country was entrusting control of Tamarak to Congressional Parliament.

Faced with the imminent eruption of civil war in Tamarak, the Secretary-General transferred jurisdiction of the country to Octavton who would control the country as a Congressional mandate with the aim of reviving Tamarak's ailing economy and standard of living.

To secure the support of the Pauldelphians, the Principal Councillor partitioned a portion of Tamarak for annexation by Pauldelphia.

Likewise on July 20, the Princess of Shannli announced that under intense pressure from Octavton, she was abdicating. Unexpectedly, the Princess transferred jurisdiction to Marcusburg.

Still facing challenges from the reorganization of his own empire, the Prime Chancellor of Marcusburg passed Shannli onto Octavton on the condition that the Principal Councillor develop the backward Shannlinese economy, improve the lives of its citizens, and recognize the Shannlinese Princess as the head of state with ultimate veto power over any internal change to the country.

Later that same day, the Octavians managed to secure the abdication of the Isle of Brock's head of state.

On July 23, the Weimarans also followed suit by unexpectedly abdicating. The Queen made her announcement to a delegation of business representatives from Octavton visiting the finance ministry who were holding a seminar on how to steer the Weimaran economy away from bankruptcy.

Within the span of only five days, Octavton had caught up to Herwan and forged an empire of its own. It appears that the Principal Councillor's expansionst agenda has indeed worked and that the Mapp now faces not just one - but two - rising powers from the land of Terra Exortus.
