After nearly a year of planning, mission controllers at the Siggary Space Command are celebrating as a rocket carrying two key components of a Siggarian space station successfully blast off into space.
Reiterating the country's peaceful space program, Siggarian officials claim that the new space station - dubbed worldwide as the 'Meow-Chow' - would boost the country's space program by allowing astronauts to conduct experiments in space and to study the Mapp's atmosphere.
Although the rocket remains in geostationery orbit above Siggarian airspace, a further rocket is needed to bring Siggarian astronauts into space for assembly of the space station. Such a launch is expected within weeks, if not days.
The Siggarian space program is technically the world's first space program. Experts caution however that Marcusburg has long had the ability to enter space and launches have been seen around the Mapp, although they have been denied by the government there. Likewise, El-Hussaq and Rattanjeetland also reputedly have space programs, but no launches from those countries have ever been observed.
