In a move that stunned the world, the once proud and mighty El-Hussaqi President ceded his entire country to its erstwhile ally and friend, Rattanjeetland.
Over the course of months, over a million El-Hussaqis have fled the country looking for a better life abroad, citing high unemployment, rampant crime, and a lack of economic opportunities. The country just could not keep up with its economic competitors - notably the new nations of Terra Exortus.
The abdication represents the end of a country whose bustling ambitions shook the very foundation of the Mapp. Quickly rising from its militaristic beginnings, El-Hussaq was forced to painfully transform into a peaceful economic power after a series of political and military defeats. It comes as no wonder that the President lost the fire in his belly for government following these events.
But the cession of the western GX-administered portion of El-Hussaq to Hongolia and Marcusburg proved to be the last straw. The transfer of power occurred as punishment for the President's unilateral decision to break the Riksholm Treaty. This document limited the military aspirations of the country as part of a peace treaty signed long ago. To this very day, the treaty still applies to Rattanjeetland and a few other nations.
In Rattanjeetland, meanwhile, the Ethnarch was only too happy to accept the abdication, as it fits in perfectly with his continued efforts to make the Rattanjeetland Empire bigger, better, and stronger (much like the slogan of the Jeetanic Games, headquartered in his country).
For months, Rattanjeetland has slowly added two new countries into its domain. Miketon ceded day-to-day control to Rattanjeetland in the summer of 2004 while New Dickens Peninsula became a puppet state during the Foreign Minister's tenure as President of the Congressional Parliament. El-Hussaq makes a nice addition to the Ethnarch's plans, further strengthening Rattanjeetland as it continues an unprecedented economic boom.
