The move comes after a high-profile trade mission from Octavton arrived in Rattanjeetland in late March to discuss expanding commerce between the two countries. However after some brief discussion, both the Principal Councillor of Octavton and the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland decided to build upon their already warm bilateral ties and forge an economic union.

Headquartered in San Andres, Octavton, the OREO is to be co-chaired by the Finance Ministers of Octavton and Rattanjeetland. Together the two heads will be able to sign free trade pacts for the entire OREO, composed of seven countries, and impose tariffs or collective economic embargoes. Furthermore, all members of the OREO will open chambers of commerce with one another and sign non-aggression pacts.

Although Octavton and Rattanjeetland will remain fully independent politically, the OREO in effect integrates the economies of the two economic giants as it sets both the OC and GER on a course of economic cooperation.

Octavians in general are ecstatic as not only do they gain access to the Mapp's second-largest market but many believe the Principal Councillor has pulled off a coup of sorts by signing such a lucrative deal with a Great Power. Meanwhile in Rattanjeetland, business leaders are optimistic the OREO will permit their country to ride the growing economic momentum of the burgeoning countries of Terra Exortus, notably Octavton.
