Great Schism Healed
While the Terra Exortus Exchange (TXE) and Pacific Exchange (PXE) were headed on a crash course in early March, the two sides appear to have truly reconciled their differences, leading to economic peace in Exortus.

Although the TXE and PXE have stepped on each other's toes ever since the latter's inception as a Herwanese power bloc, on February 27, 2005, the accession of Chercago into the TXE led to a crisis which threatened to spill into full-fledged conflict.

Shortly after their country's founding, Chercagoans approached TXE officials in Octavton, which co-leads the TXE with Hongolia, asking permission to accede the organization. The TXE, always eager to find new markets and trading partners, quickly agreed. When rumours hit shortly thereafter that Chercago was yet another Herwanese puppet regime, the Principal Councillor of Octavton was furious.

The next day, Octavton made the highly controversial move of recognizing a competing Rattanjeetarr claim over Novara. Novara had been the object of a highly contested battle between Rattanjeetland and Herwan. However the Herwanese had managed to hold their ground since the autumn of 2004 and maintained their administration in Novara.

Octavton's decision rapidly made front page news in the PXE, prompting the President of Herwan to hold emergency talks with the Principal Councillor on March 1. After nine days of intense negotation, the two leaders came to a historic agreement. For the first time, the TXE opened its doors to the PXE. Ichiben and Soozhou were granted immediate accession on March 9.

While many were stunned by the development, others cautioned that it might be a temporary rapproachement. They speculated that perhaps the PXE was merely caught up in a general diplomatic thaw in Octavton (as witnessed by the Principal Councillor reaching detente with his bitter enemy Zimbabmei the day before).

But as time went on, it seemed that the rapproachement between the great Exortus exchanges was concrete. This effect has spilled over into Octo-Herwanese relations which has gradually warmed since March 9. Ironically as Herwan makes good with one leader of the TXE, it becomes the nemesis of the TXE's other leader, Hongolia. (See Hongo-Herwanese Tension)
