Amidst an international outcry over its expansionist agenda, the Chercagoans have scaled back their plans for a gargantuan suburb in Terra Praeforium.
The original announcement in Chercago on May 3, 2005 triggered a flurry of diplomatic activity as the leaders of the TXE (Octavton and Hongolia) and a Marcusburg envoy rushed to Chercago to hammer out border agreements to divert the construction of suburbs and secure their colonies.
In spite of the ease with which the agreements were signed, bad blood between the TXE and the Herwanese-controlled PXE was apparent as Hongolia and Shannli (an Octavian mandate) sent troops to police the newly formed border between their countries and Chercago which they regard as a Herwanese vassal.
In Rattanjeetland, an enraged Ethnarch Jussolini ordered the economic embargo of the entire PXE by the Greater Rattanjeetland Empire (also including Natharctica, Miketon, and New Dickens Peninsula) on May 5.
Gorditan troops meanwhile landed in that country's colony in Terra Praeforium. They established a defensive perimeter twice the size of the colony which would prevent the Chercagoans from building into the territory unless if Chercago wanted to risk war with Gorditas.
Inspired, on the same day Igoslavian officials met with their Octavian allies at the Tower of Light leading to the deployment of 20,000 troops at the Igoslavian colony in Terra Praeforium. They also established a defensive perimeter that trebled the size of the colony.
On May 7, Hongolia expelled Chercago from the TXE, citing its involvement in Danikistan and reversing an Octavian decision to allow the country back in following a border agreement.
The next day, bowing to international pressure, Chercagoan officals announced the country would be building 4 new suburbs instead of the original 18. Nevertheless, the damage done to Chercago's reputation has been immeasurable.
Rattanjeetarr interest in Novara has resurged after months of quiet and the Ethnarch reputedly wants the entire Mapp to join him in embargoing the PXE. A thaw in TXE-PXE relations has grown cold and around the world, countries are keeping a weary eye on Chercago's next move and indeed that of the PXE.
