Hongolia Annexes Wingtucky
A victorious bid in the Wingtucky Auction is merely the latest in a series of diplomatic coups for the ambitious and growing Hongolian Empire.

Surviving a Chercagoan threat on its mandate of Danikistan, Hongolia has gone on to not only consolidate its empire but expand it. On July 11, 2005, the leader of Hongolia, Triple H, managed to successfully convince the Kaiser of Srujanermany to cede control of his country. Finding his country embroiled in civil chaos and his military research stalled by corruption and bureaucratic inefficiency, the Kaiser essentially threw up his hands and decided to embrace his surgical pursuits.

A mere four days later Triple H's diplomats pulled off another victory by securing control of Kafobrena. Like the Kaiser, the Empress of Kafobrena had been engaging in other pursuits at the expense of her country, notably linguistics and calligraphy. While Triple H arranged for Srujanermany to join the large and influential trading network, the Terra Exortus Exchange (TXE), Kafobrena did not enjoy similar treatment.

In the meantime, Hongolian representatives fanned out across the Mapp promoting their candidate for the presidency of Congressional Parliament in upcoming elections. When the results came in on July 27 in the Congress of Jollywood, Hongolia was given a resounding vote of confidence. All but seven countries decided to throw their support behind Triple H instead of the opponent, Rattanjeetland.

A day later news came that after vicious bidding between Hongolia and Octavton, the former had won the right to control Wingtucky. On August 1, Triple H announced the annexation of the country into Hongolia. Observers expect that the inclusion of such a unique people will give Hongolia a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere as almost a quarter of all Hongolians already come from different backgrounds - El-Hussaqi and Nosheenadan being among some of them.

On August 3, with their country under new management, refugees from Wingtucky outside the Congressional Parliament are expected to stream back to their homeland, now part of a stronger and more dynamic Hongoia.
