Gorditas Enters Lipasia
Potential Samchorage Veto Raises Fury

At 2:17 AM on August 6, 2001, after receiving a memorandum from the Secretary-General of Congressional Parliament concerning a possible Samchorage veto over Great Power status, the Prime Minister of Gorditas ordered a widespread mobilization of his armed forces. At 2:26 AM, a division of the Gorditan army, numbering 50,000 strong, crossed the Gorditas-Samchorage border as part of general war exercises and entered Samchoragean Lipasia.

Jurisdiction in Samchorage Lipasia is extremely complicated as the territory fell to Kamograd in the War, but since Kamograd abdicated to Marcusburg, technically it is under Marcusburg jurisdiction. Nevertheless, Samchorage has been given a remarkably large degree of autonomy in its Metropolis, Prime, Lipasia, and Terra Nova territories.

In an effort to avoid triggering a renewal of conflict and to protect the fragile Consulplatz Treaty, the Marcusburg Home Office granted the soldiers permission to enter Samchorage Lipasia by issuing temporary one day work visas when Gorditan troops crossed the border. However, because Marcusburg jurisdiction over the area was as lax as it was, the true test of whether or not widespread discontent would arise laid in the hands of the Samchorage Lipasian governor.

At 2:54 AM, the Lipasian governor indicated that he would abide by the ruling of the Home Office. Accordingly, Samchorage citizens performed no acts of civil disobedience while the Gorditan troops inspected a destroyed superbase, which Gorditas is set to gain from the Consulplatz Treaty.

Some time passed before the Gorditan ambassador in Marcusburg could be contacted, and a request by the Home Office for Gorditan troops to leave Lipasia was delayed. However, once the message got through, at 3:29 AM, Gorditan troops were withdrawn from Samchorage Lipasia as war games in the region were hastily concluded for the day. The Gorditan armed forces remain on high alert, while the normally congenial Gorditan people express their fury and rage over the possibility of losing greatness which they feel is rightly deserved. In Marcusburg, a new government ministry has been created, the Mandates Office, in an effort to centralize order in all foreign jurisdictions.
