Samchorage Restored
After nearly a month of being under foreign jurisdiction as a result of the Zeradit War, the Republican Empire of Samchorage was restored to a degree, as dictated by the partially completely ratified Consulplatz Treaty, meaning that the treaty has been completely ratified with reference to certain clauses.
Traditional Samchorage lands, including the former Triplex Protectorate, have been restored, along with the majority of the New Hope provinces. The prime territory of Kamograd has been ceded to Lindsholm, as has the sprawling suburb of Metropolis, though the treaty states that Metropolis is to be partitioned between Lindsholm and Denisia. In the east, Terra Nova territories belonging to Samchorage have been partitioned between Gorditas and Wendorra la Vella. Gorditas also acquires a quarter of Kamopolis, while Marcusburg gains the remainder. Rattanjeetland gains Kamograd Terra Nova, but is denied any claim to New Hope. Instead, Marcusburg receives a narrow corridor of land in New Hope North, connecting Colonius Province with Tiberius.
Although the restoration of Samchorage is a large step forward for the conclusion of the Zeradit War, a lasting treaty to formally conclude hostilities has still not yet been fully implemented. A few days ago a draft of the Consulplatz treaty was released to the general public; only the territorial and economic clauses have been implemented for the time being. However, the Courts had conveniently paved the way for the demotion of a restored Samchorage. Nevertheless, other clauses still remain in jeopardy.
For weeks, the Congress of Jared forcibly stalled the talks, as it was unknown whether the approval of the President of Samchorage was required. It was also well known at the time that the President would approve nothing but the full restoration of all lands and monies once held by his nation. The latest setback is the result of continued haggling over the fate of the surrendered and existing Confederate powers.
All negotiators and analysts agree that the Consulplatz Treaty will set the cornerstone for future international diplomacy. Already, there are unverified publications in the Samchorage Free Press and the Marcusburg Communique newspapers that report the President of Samchorage is motioning towards leaving the Phoenix Confederacy.
