Buenos Altos Invades Kamostopol
Nascent Power in the Middle of a Territorial Controversy

Although there were rumors, on September 15, 2001, elite forces from Buenos Altos drove into Kamostopol and laid claim to its territory. When all 10,000 soldiers had disembarked from their vehicles, they met a defiant Kamostopolian population. All nine citizens, including the chieftain, refused to surrender after being ordered to do so by the captain of the Buenos Altos attack force. On an interesting note, the invasion comes as the former Dockmaster of Portalto came out of retirement to accept a posting as the new Buenos Altos military advisor.

Using tear gas and manpower, the elite soldiers quickly captured and arrested the chieftain of Kamostopol. With their leader in handcuffs, the rest of Kamostopol quickly surrendered. For the time being, Buenos Altos has incorporated Kamostopol into its jurisdiction. A permanent arrangement for the territory is still to come.

Earlier in the day, the Buenos Altan government claimed that they had intercepted communications from Kamostopol that the latter was prepared to attack Neonoe. On this note, Buenos Altos decided to take action to protect Neonoe against suspected Kamostopolian aggression. Analysts say the prospect of Kamostopol attacking anyone is highly unlikely as the nation is brand new and has no military capability whatsoever. As well, only nine individuals resided in Kamostopol and there is no practical means of transporting anything out of Kamostopol. Neonoe, which is in the far east of Terra Incognita, lies in the extreme opposite direction of Kamostopol.

Initially, concerns were raised in Siggary over whether or not Buenos Altan troops had violated Siggarian sovereignty in Terra Incognita. However, because Siggarian borders were not solidified at the time, the invasion was perfectly legal. Ever since its inception, Kamostopol has been a source of frustration for Siggary as it was situated well inside the Siggarian zone of control. Ironically at the time of the invasion, Siggary was in discussions with Pauldelphia over relocating Kamostopol to the edge of Pauldelphia's zone of control. Buenos Altos effectively rendered those talks useless.

The arrested chieftain of Kamostopol has given up all hope of fighting Buenos Altos and instead simply denounces the attack. Congressional Parliament has also denounced the attack but applauds the invasion as one of the most humane military actions in Mapp history.
