Jäbourgh Invaded
Wingtucky and Novara Launch Joint Military Attack

Although rumors had been circulating about a possible attack on Jäbourgh for nearly a week, no one had taken the news seriously. After all, Jäbourgh was nothing more than just an open plain in the centre of Terra Incognita. Its leader once had grand dreams of constructing a utopian democracy but as the reality of nation-building set in, Jäbourgh regressed into a fourth world country.

On September 28, 2001, the Dai Jeh of Wingtucky and the First Lady of Novara reached agreement over the invasion of Jäbourgh. After a long vacation with the Proconsul of Josephville, the First Lady had returned to the Maison d'Okavango in Novara and resumed political affairs. When she returned, she found her country in disarray. Her military forces had been reduced to nothing after the Zeradit War and her land claim in the recent Land Rush was stripped away from her by the Ethnarch of Rattanjeetland.

Novara's immediate reaction was to right the wrongs that had been done to her. For awhile around noon, the international press had a field day as unconfirmed reports of a declaration of independence by Novara were leaked from the Maison. Within minutes, more unconfirmed rumors from the Adiposia in Rattanjeetland found its way to the paparazzi - ostensibly, the Ethnarch had forcably denied the First Lady's declaration.

No declaration was announced officially, although its existence was well-known. Frustrated, Novara turned to military action in order to gain land, the lifeline of any country. Later that afternoon, a massive conscription campaign was launched in both Novara and Wingtucky - the latter nation was known to have had bad blood with Jäbourgh over unpaid civilian loans owed to the Wingtuckian Mafia (BKBB).

All conscripts were sent to Jäbourgh under Wingtuckian command, which was required if troops were to cross Nexus territory as friendly troops since Novara is a Rattanjeetland protectorate. Upon seeing the fifteen inhabitants of Jäbourgh, the Wingtuckian commander ordered a fullscale attack. Before the Jäbourghers had a chance to surrender, they were rounded up and taken as prisoners of war. One Jäbourgher was fatally wounded and as a result, Jäbourgh formally surrendered to Novara and Wingtucky.

Shortly after their victory, the Prime Chancellor of Marcusburg called the Dai Jeh and the First Lady about the invasion. By the time night fell, both nations ceded Jäbourgh to Marcusburg. The latest reports claim that an emergency Marcusburg envoy has traveled to Novara and that an emergency session of the Fletplase (Marcusburg parliament) is being held to determine Jäbourgh's fate.
