Kamostopol Sold
Buenos Altos Bows to Siggarian Pressure

With relations with Siggary at an all-time low, Buenos Altos sold its acquired Kamostopol territory to Siggary for A330,000K on the night of September 29, 2001. In so doing, Buenos Altos effectively gave up its claim to land within Siggary's zone of control and in the words of the Buenos Altan leader, "sold all his problems away to Siggary".

Several realtors say that the price of the land could have gone much higher, with A330,000K being the bare minimum reasonable cost. Ever since Buenos Altos moved into Kamostopol and unilaterally declared its own borders, Siggary was faced with an agonizing dilemma. It could neither take the claimed land by force nor walk away from the development. Rumors from the Amiconsegi indicate that Siggary would have invaded Buenos Altos had it not been a part of the Platinum Nexus.

Negotiations over Kamostopol had been non-existent since the unilateral boundary declaration and Siggary was in the midst of a diplomatic campaign to rally foreign powers to recognize her zone of control, which would mean that the Buenos Altos border was illegitimate. Already, a Buenos Altan effort to realize the legitimacy of its self-proclaimed boundary met approval in Gorditas. However, the unexpected sale put the whole matter to rest - a move some analysts say was a capitulation to a great power.
