The Medieval World Family

The Medieval World's High King
The High King shares the highest rank with that of the Lady of the Lake, only he rules the main island while she rules the sacred isle. At times when he is not available, the Lady fo the Lake is in charge and takes over as His trusted advisor and dearest friend. The High King rules over all his land with kindness and compassion for his people. He is wise, and may also have a temper from time to time. His duties are as follows: to meet with the other Kings on a regular basis to discuss war strategy and, at times of peace, to check on how the kingdoms are running. It is at the castle of the High King where all train to go to other castles, so the High King must also make sure that the training of all nobles is running smoothly. He must know wich are ready to advance and wich are ready to transfer to other castles. He must check on his food storage and make sure it is sufficient, hold grand feasts and games for all of the island. The High King is the only King that dubs knights. These duties MUST be posted in the forum so that the Lady of the Lake may see that he is keeping up to date on his duties.

The Medieval World's Kings and Lords
There are currently three castles available within the Medieval World and therefore only three Kings in addition to our High King. These Kings are to attend meetings with the High King at times of war or peace to decide and discuss the fate of their kingdoms. Each king owns a castle and therefore runs it as he sees fit, untill such time as he may pass on, or untill the High King sees a need for him to be demoted or move on from our realm. This will only happen with just cause such as abuse or neglect of their power or site. Of course fair warnings will be given before such time. King and Lord Duties are: to check with his Knights on a regular basis regarding training, stategy and the kingdom, when the food storage is low he is to take a few Knights and perhaps a squire or two and hunt, hold games and feasts for the people of his kingdom to keep them entertained, electing squires. He MUST record these things in his forum so that the High King and the Lady of the Lake can see that he is maintaining his duties. Lords of course are to do such as well but in regards to a smaller scale if he owns a manor. The Kings are to be address as Your Majesty, Sire, Your Grace, M'liege, by both Nobles and servants. M'king was another address used by Nobles and servants. M'lord for use by those of Nobility, or M'lord was also an accepted address by someone who served. Highness is NOT one of the titles for a King, to do so, you just demoted him. You never called him by his first name, unless you are given expressed permission to. A Lord is of course addressed by M'Lord or my Lord. A King is considered second in rank after the High King, and a Lordship is considered third.

The Medieval World's Queens and Ladies
Being that there are only three Kings, it is only common sense that there are three Queens within the Medieval World. The High King at this time prefers to NOT take a Queen but remains taking concubines instead. The only time that a woman may own one of our castles is if she was previously Queen and the King has passed on or been asked to move on from our realm at wich time she decided to stay. Ladies may own manors however. Queen and Lady duties are: gossiping, spinning and making clothes, overseeing that the manor or castle runs smoothly, occationally shopping at the markets, raising children, helping to throw feasts and games, and obeying their husbands. These Must be logged in the forum at regular intervals so that the High King and the Lady of Lake see that her home is taken care of and that she is remaining true to her duties. Queens are addressed as Your Majesty, or Your Grace. In the third person, the Queen can be referred to as Her Majesty. Highness is NOT one of the titles for a Queen, to do so, you just demoted her. You are never to call the Queen by her first name unless you are given expressed permission to. A Lady is of course refered to as M'Lady or my Lady. A Queen is considered first rank for women, and a Lady is second.

The Medieval World's Knights
Click here for Information and Training
Knights are next in rank to Lordship. They are the noble and valiant men at arms that safe guard our Kingdoms. The Kings and the High King may at times move a knight from one castle to another as they see fit, so that one castle does not have too many and another too few. A castle with too many knights tends to run out of things for them to do. Remember that there are four castles to be guarded, those of the Kings and that of the High King. A Knights duties are as follows: train their squires, attend hunts with the King, attend the feasts and participate in the games, train for combat and consult with the King on strategy, and train horses. The knight MUST make sure to log these events in the forum so that the High King and the Lady of the Lake may see that he is keeping up with his duties. Knights are addressed as Lord, M'lord, m'Lord, Sir or Sire. If the Knight is a Lady, I would refer to them as M'lady, Knight or Dame _____.

A lady in waiting MUST post these in the forum so that the High King and the Lady of the Lake may see that they are keeping up to date with their duties. When those who served spoke to each other, they often used their first names. Sometimes sis, sister or brother was used. It was common in Medieval times for those who served to address ones over them as Master or Mistress. The Lady's in waiting are to be address as Ma'am when spoken to by someone of a lower rank.

The Medieval World's Squires
Squires are the first step to one day becoming a knight and perhaps even King. These are young men in training for knighthood and are ranked lowest in this path. It was common in Medieval times for those who served to address ones over them as Master or Mistress.

All of thier duties MUST be posted in the forum so that the High King and the Lady of the Lake may see that they are keeping up with their duties. When those who served spoke to each other, they often used their first names. Sometimes sis, sister or brother was used. It was common in Medieval times for those who served to address ones over them as Master or Mistress.
