SKA-BOOM! (Page 3 of 3) Jerry Dammers signed most of the main players in Ska music at the time, The Selecter, The Beat and Madness and they put their own special edge to classic Ska tunes from the sixties. Although the late seventies and early eighties was the height for these bands, anyone with an older brother was to enjoy the sound of Ska well into the eighties. The third wave of Ska came in the in the mid nineties with bands like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Hepcats combining the rhythms of Ska with power pop or punk to create Ska-core. Individual bands did quite well, in the U.S. of all places and triggered a come-back of various guises of the original 2-Tone bands like the Beat and the Specials still capable of pulling big crowds where and whenever they play.
The time has come to skank again, jump about
and have some fun. |
