Joroth’s
Message
By the time you leave the theatre
of the seasons with a copy of "The Exile"
under your arm, it is dark.
There is a light snow outside,
and as you make your way toward the center of
town, a dark figure appears as if from shadows. He is tall and lean, he
removes his hood and you can see the broad grin of Joroth.
"You know I’ve been
searching for you people all afternoon and
this evening. Its probably just as well you’ve been hard to find."
His smile vanishes.
"You people are in serious
trouble. I mean your life is in danger.
These people who kidnapped Hal and Taric, they are called the
Drakes. They are a small, but highly respected crew of assassins.
I mean they are hired for the big jobs in this town.
The fact that you are not
already dead means that they have been
following you, probably to try to work out what you are up to and
who you are working for. Last time they caught you, they were
probably just after information.
But now there’s a rumour
about the town. It’s rumoured that Earl
Manong has hired a mercenary crew to rescue Prince Archidore from
exile and restore him to the throne. The Earl is using the rumour
to try to forge an aliance against the king. Political loyalties
may change and significantly weaken the Kings precarious position.
If these Drakes have been
hired by one of the kings men, and I
have reason to believe they have, assuming they know what you are
up to, next time they are likely to want you dead. My advice is to
get your best weapons as soon as possible and make sure you are
always well armed, make sure you stick together and avoid
confrontation."
He tells you a bit about the
Drakes:
Quince is their leader. He
is tall with short gray hair and a short gray
beard with pale eyes. He is quite charismatic. He is known for his assassin
skills and for disguise.
Munce is a big broad man, he
is completely balled, has missing front teeth
and is not terribly bright. He does the heavy duty fighting for the group.
Melony is short with black
hair and brown eyes. She is athletic looking and
moves like a cat. She is well known to use poisons extensively. Including
Morgul and Chalmers.
Jock is the fourth member of
the group but you may not have seen him. He is
used as a scout or as backup and avoids confrontation. He is young and
freckled with strawberry blonde hair. He is the most inexperienced member.
It is believed he is Melony’s young brother.
"Also, I have a lead
on the hunchback. I don’t think he is a
member of the Drakes. I need to check out a few things about him.
Meet me at the Apple Tree Inn in a hour’s time.
So you sneak back to the warehouse
to get your gear and weapons, and waiting there is strange visitor…
