The Phantom It is out there and becoming more and more wide spread. It sneaks into families homes and into unsuspecting lives. It waits and festers growing stronger with each passing day. It matters little what age, sex or background you are from. It does not take into consideration that you may be filthy rich or that you live on welfare. It does not care who you know or not know. It is an addiction unlike any other addiction because this addiction has no cure. No clinic can be found to go to at any cost. No doctor can fully ever understand its full effects on the shattered lives it leaves behind. It's effects are similar to that of drugs and alcohol.
Just like drugs and alcohol it rips families apart. It strips the person of their dignity and common sense. People under it's effects lie, cheat and steal for this addiction. They will do anything necessary to prolong the high. Unlike drugs or alcohol, it doesn't harm your body. No test can be done to see if a person suffers from it's effects. The cost of this addiction is high, but there is no pusher out there begging a person to buy something. No one is getting rich from this addiction, no middle man, and worst of all is it's legal. A person will never spend even one day in jail.
However, the addicted person will create their own prison. It is a prison set so deep in the mind that a 4 by 8 cell maybe a blessing. The crimes set forth on the person are great. The punishment that is dealt out on these poor souls surpasses any punishment known to the legal system. Families can't make bail and are at a loss as to how to stop the pain,. suffering, and anguish of their loved one. They have no tools or guide lines to fight back with. Until Now.....
As we march into the new millennium, more of our family and friends will be taken. They will not even know they have this addiction until it is way too late. Once wrapped in its folds, there is little hope of escape. The grasp on your mind is great and it will refuse to let go. The disease will grow and fester, keeping the addicted under its control. Like a phantom it plays on the fringes of your mind, ever growing and changing just out of the persons reach. It consumes and absorbs everything in its path. Taking with it the fragmented pieces of the mind of the addicted person. It consumes hope, peace, the love of life, and replaces all of these with sadness, despair, and longing. Like a wildfire out of control it is fueled by rage, confusion, and frustration.
This becomes the person's new identity to their family and friends. A somewhat twisted version of what they once were. Without the proper tools it will be hard for you to understand them or the person you see them as now. The battle raging inside them is even hard for them to comprehend. Through this book, I will show you how to fight the phantom living inside them. Together we will make a difference in their lives. What is this new addiction sweeping the world? Are there any warning signs? Can the addiction be broken? Is there anything a family member or friend can do to help break this cycle? With this book you will begin to understand the addiction a little clearer. You will have the tools needed to fight the phantom. I will warn you however, this will be no easy task.
Some days you will find yourself on the brink of quitting. You will be pushed and pulled into an unknown place with only your wits for protection, as the phantom tries to pull you in as well. The phantom will search the deepest darkest crevices of your mind looking for anything it can bond to. Trying hard to take root in the far reaches of your subconscious. It assaults your intelligence and common sense and can bring you to the brink of addiction as well. The phantom holds all the cards. It plays the game very well. It will use your loved one as the ultimate prize in this game. Holding them just out of reach, hoping for your surrender as well.
It has nothing to lose and everything to gain and just like any addiction it has but one goal. That goal is to search and destroy anything in its path, making the addicted person a mindless robot hell bent on fueling the fire. This fire that rages and burns out of control, seen by all except the person afflicted. It lies in wait for you if you dare to come forth.
Unlike a demon in a horror story, this phantom is real. Its' putrid breath are but clicks on a mouse. The afflicted breaths life into this demon with every key stroke. Its' shape and form are materialized on a monitor. Every time a computer is booted up the phantom rears back its ugly head and laughs wickedly. It knows that it is just that much closer to winning the game. You the reader now have a weapon. You can control the phantom. You can win the game. It was never possible until now.......
