REFERENCES:. We have reasonable dates on Thomas Jr (he was age 77 at death in 1830 and thus born in abt 1753). His birth in 1753 would suggest that if he was the oldest child (i.e. no sisters older) then Thomas Thatcher, Sr. would have been married about 1752 and if he was the usual age of 25 at marriage then his birth date would have been about 1727.p - written 28 Mar 1789 and probated 21 May 1789. Will # 429S. "Liber 30, pg 196). Mentions the following individuals in the will:s age 21. She is also to receive 1/3 of all the profits of all land as long as she remains a widow. She is also to receive all moveable estate items for use in paying his death and burial expenses. Susannah can use money left to youngest daughters to buy land for them if she so desires.f land upon which Samuel Templeton and Peter Petty now live. (land located on banks of Pohohatcong Creek and adjoining land of Edward Palmer and Joseph Warnes). He is also given this land. Thomas also to pay thirty five (35) pounds in silver or gold money to a three hundred (300) pound common fund.llis now lives. Land near Pohohatcong Creek and adjacent to land of Mark Thompson and land of Thom(as) Jones. Samuel Thatcher also to have seven (7) acres of meadow land adjoining Pohohatcong Creek before Samuel Beers door. He also to have enough land to provide a road to this meadow land. Samuel to pay one hundred thirty five (135) pounds in silver or gold money to a three hundred (300) pound common fund.) now live. Adjoins land of Thomas and Samuel and Elizabeths or Palmers (? Elizabeth Thatcher Palmer) and ? Hannahs? Elisha to pay funds in silver or gold money to make up the balance of the three hundred (300) pound common fund. It states that Thomas Thatcher was a son of Samuel or Elijah Thatcher who lived in Pohatcong Valley of Warren Co, New Jersey (about 8-9 miles from Easton, Pennsylvania) and were ardent Methodists. This source lists children of Thomas Thatcher as (1) Thomas Jr - born ? and died 1830 age 77 and married Anna; (2) Elisha born 23 Feb 1769, married 25 Oct 1796 and died 13 Nov 1845 and married Mary Coleman; (3) Sarah who married Garrett Howell and moved to Canada in 1801; (4) Susanna who married John Rosborough and moved to Ontario, Canada; (5) Clorinda who died unmarried 28 Jan 1826 age 57; (6) female who married to Andrew Kitchen. - Note that the Sarah who is reported to have married Garrett Howell is probably one of the younger daughter who were under age 21 in will.n Family History Library) and correspondence from Clarence W. Wood; 787 Glazier Road; Chelsea, Michigan 48118 (2000) - States that Thomas Thatcher may have bought land in Morris Co, New Jersey in 1847 - Reference to Deed Book AB pg 255: Thomas Thatcher (of Greenage twp, Morris Co, New Jersey - Note that Mr. Wood points out that Greenage twp has been in four counties in its history - First in 1714 in Hunterdon Co and then in 1738 Morris Co was formed from a portion of Hunterdon Co, then in 1753 Sussex Co was in part taken from Morris Co and this included Greenage twp and then in 1824 Warren Co was formed from Sussex which included Greenage twp) purchases 370 acres from Joseph Warford of the same place. The deed is very long and gives the history of the land from 1700 when it was owned by Matthew Medcalf who left it in will to his daughter Mary and Deborah Medcalf. Deborah married William Cooper of Philadelphia. In 1713/1743 William and Daniel Cooper sold the land (then containing 618 acres) to Justice Gons who in turn sold it to Joseph Warford. The deed witnessed by Henry Stewart, Jeremiah Thatcher and William Finlay.n 1815)d Mary his wife sell to James Skean of same place. Deed mentions that Samuel Thatcher inherited land from his father, Thomas Thatcher, and in turn gave the land to his daughter, Mary Thatcher Ross.s daughter, Elizabeth Palmer, wife of Edwin or Edmon Palmer land. Deed dated 17 mar 1786 and recorded 1805.
