K. Cranney be appointed Corporation Attorney, P. Cardon be appointed City Treasurer; H. Sadler be appointed Assesor and Collector; B. M. Lewis, City Supervisor, John Jacobs, City Sexton; Jas H. Martineau, City Surveyor; George Cymens, Scales of Weights and Measures; W. C. Shearman, Inspector of Liquors. Carried. Moved that the following persons be appointed policeman in and for their respective wards with power to act in any part of the city when their services may be required: 1st Ward, Jonathan Ricks, Aaron Thatcher, Elisha Steen, Charles Maughan; 2nd Ward, John Paul, Thomas Irwin, Joseph Thatcher; 3rd ward, William Parkinson, Robert Davidson; 4th Ward, Mart Fletcher, John Smith, Hans Monk, Frederick Hurst; 5th Ward, Alexander McNeil, James Beverland, Charles Frank. John Paul was made Captain of Police.
