Notes for John TAYLOR


Note: John Taylor was a son of Edward Taylor and Sarah Curtis and grandson of John and Elizabeth Taylor. John Taylor was born Sept. 16, 1784 and died Aug. 8, 1881. He owned and lived for many years on the farm now in the possession of Paul C. Larue in Baptistown. His first wife was HannahThatcher, by whom he had one child. Mother and child died many years ago. His second wife was Jane Curtis, who died April 18,1871, in her 60th year of her age. They had 7 children:Hannah, John, Jacob, Sarah E., Mary Ann, Susan Jane, Davis. John Taylor owned and lived where Dr. Leidy now resides. His first wife was Hannah, daughter of Nathaniel Thatcher. His second wife was Jane Curtis, daughter of David Curtis. Their children were: Jacob who died when a small child; John married Amy, daughter of John Shepherd; Davis married Mary Ellen,daughter of John Eick; Sarah married Andrew, son of Frances Roberson and Nancy, nee Rittenhouse; Susan Jane died when a young woman; Mary Ann married Henry Hoff. John Taylor's mother lived to be over 100 years old.

Note: Deaths - At Trenton, Aug. 8, 1881, John Taylor, formerly of Baptisttown, aged 96 years 10 months and 23 days. September 16th, 1784, John Taylor was born. He was a son of Edward Taylor, who settled just after the close of theRevolutionary War, at Baptisttown, on the farms now occupied by Wilson R. Kugler, John Taylor, Jr., and James Ashcroft. After his death the farm was divided and John Taylor received the farm in Baptisttown, and his brother, Thomas C., the farm on the road to Frenchtown, where he resided a short time. About five years ago he removed to Trenton, to reside with his son-in-law, Andrew Roberson. His death occurred on Monday of this week; intermentat Frenchtown on Thursday. Thus one by one the men of the last century are passing away. - Lambertville Beacon.
