The yo-yo club of the 1990's beat Preston North End 3-0 at Cardiff to return to what they consider to be their rightful place. Wanderers, too, will be looking to consolodate their Premiership place. |

CHARLTON ATHLETIC Manager:- Alan Curbishley Chairman:- Richard Murray Stadium:- The Valley (26,000) 2000-01 saw Charlton's highest league position for 20 years and with it their highly rated young manager Alan Curbishley shho to the top of many top clubs wanted lists. This was all a long way away from the mid 80's when Charlton had no ground, no money and were on League Football's slippery slope. Curbishley made a last-day promise to his fans that he would stay at The Valley and has since seen his young team, including Kevin Lisbie, Jason Euell, Chris Bart-Williams and Jorge Costa Charlton will be hoping for a European push in the next few seasons. |

IPSWICH TOWN Manager:- George Burley Chairman:- David Sheepshanks Stadium:- Portman Road (26,000) After a 5-year struggle to gain promotion from Division 1, arguably the league's best Chairman-Manager partnership, George Burley and David Sheepshanks finally achieved ther goal withe a 4-2 Playoff win over Dave Bassett's Barnsley at Wembley. And in their first season up there was nothing but good news, with the Tractor Boys finishing 5th. In the next few seasons they will be hoping for more European football. |
LEICESTER CITY Manager:- Dave Bassett Chairman:- John Elsom Stadium:- Filbert Street (22,215) Having spent 5 seasons in mid-table under the guidence of Martin O'Neill, his replacement, Peter Taylor, seemed to be carrying on the good work. But, after a great start, it turned sour for the new Brighton manager with only 3 wins in 2001, causing him to be sacked in October and replaced by Dave Bassett. But the veteran manager couldn't do much better, with the Foxes 9 points from safety and time running out, they will be joining midland rivals Coventry in Div1 next season |
MIDDLESBROUGH Manager:- Steve McLaren Chairman:- Steve Gibson Stadium:- The Cellnet Riverside Stadium (35,049) On paper Middlesbrough shouldn'd be anywhere near the relegation zone. However, in the last 2 seasons under the guidance of two Man Utd legends, Boro have found themselves trapped in a relegation dogfight. In the next couple of seasons, Boro and especially chairman Steve Gibson will be hoping for bigger and better things including European football and an Alan Boksic challenge for the Golden Boot in return for his £millions |
