Liberals, Conservatives & Southerners

How do you tell the difference between Liberals, Conservatives and Southerners?

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges.

You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?

Liberal Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!

Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?

Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have an appropriate safety built into it?

Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with killing just me?

Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1?

Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day, and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.

This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

Conservative Answer:

BANG!

Southerner's Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! rackety-click...(sounds of reloading).

Wife: "Hun, he looks like he's still moving, whadda y'all kids think?"

Son: "Mama's right Daddy, I saw it, too."

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click.

Daughter: "Nice group, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips?"

How's this for a Conservative quote?

"The broad principle that there is an individual right to bear arms is shared by many Americans, including myself."

The Truth!
"We are at war with Islamic extremists who hate us because we are rich and powerful, because we don't enslave women or murder Jews. We are guilty of no provocation, save our mere existence. So this is not a conflict that can be resolved by appeasement or negotiation. We must destroy them, or they will destroy us."

- Columnist, retired Marine and Green Beeret Jack Kelly

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and had grown to be strongly favoring the distribution of all wealth in America.

She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative which she expressed openly.

One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich & more welfare programs. In the middle of her heart felt diatribe based upon the lectures she had from her far left professors at her school, he stopped her and asked her point blank, how she was doing in school.

She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain. That she had to study all the time, never had time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of spending all her time studying. That she was taking a more difficult curriculum.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Mary." She replied, "Mary is barely getting by", she continued, "all she has is barely a 2.0 GPA" adding, "and all she takes are easy classes and she never studies."

But to explain further she continued emotionally, "But Mary is so very popular on campus, college for her is a blast, she goes to all the parties all the time and very often doesn't even show up for classes because she is too hung over."

Her father then asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your 4.0 GPA and give it to your friend who only had a 2.0." He continued, "That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine, I did without and Mary has done little or nothing, she played while I worked real hard!"

The father slowly smiled and said, "You sound like a Conservative"

Saying 'Hate' Is Hate Speech
At Gonzaga University, it's hate speech to use the word "hate" in a flyer. At least, it is if you're Young Americans for Freedom members promoting a speech by Daniel Flynn, author of "Why the Left Hates America." From CNSNews.com:
In a letter obtained by YAF, the university's office of student activities informed the student group that a complaint had been made because some people felt the word "hate" in the speech title was "discriminatory."
The letter then warned the students that "in the future ... watch what information is printed on your flyers." The office informed the group that the complaint would be included in its file at the school.
Paul Schafer, a student organizer of the event, spoke with David Lindsay, the university's director of student activities, who told him that "hate" is a strong word and that students shouldn't hold an event at which a speaker hates someone. Lindsay then required the group to alter the flyers to clearly indicate that the topic of the speech is also the title of Flynn's book.
The Jesuit university's posting policy bans “h--- speech.”

Why you should support FCAV
by Judson Cox

In the words of Justice Thomas, Campaign Finance Reform is the greatest assault on the First Amendment "since the Civil War." This collection of laws imperils our entire Constitution. Which of our other constitutionally enshrined rights and limitations on government may be undone by legislative action and approved by judicial fiat next?

Political leaders are a ruling elite, intoxicated by power and often insulated from the concerns of Average Americans. They associate mostly with each other and are governed by a collegial group-think centered on re-election. Their power is contingent upon seniority and favors owed. To gain re-election, any blow against the constitution that can be couched as reform, any entitlement or pork spending will be embraced. Every expansion of government can be justified as beneficial to some group, making for good P.R. and flowery speeches. The inclination of government is expansion, no matter which party is in power.

Thirty years ago, conservatism was considered a kooky notion advanced by such "extremists" as Senator Barry Goldwater. The Republican Party was run by Rockefeller and Nixon, fiscal liberals and social moderates. The Reagan revolution, the rise of conservative media and the Contract with America secured conservative dominance within the party. The D.C. elite changed little. For instance, I am aware of a southern Goldwater Republican Congressman who spends his weekends with Sen. Kennedy at Martha's Vineyard, and vacations at Rep. Charles Wrangle's palatial estate in the Dominican Republic. The elite still belong to the same club. Even President Bush, a "compassionate conservative," who spends his free time at his Texas ranch, has not been able to resist expanding government at a rate not seen since LBJ's Great Society.

The conservative movement began at the grass roots. For this reason, Campaign Finance Reform may offer conservatives an opportunity to counterbalance the self interest of the elite. The laws weaken the power of political parties, by limiting soft money. Parties will have less money for voter education and get out the vote drives. The laws ban advertisements on TV or radio about candidates within 30 days of a primary or 60 days of a general election. These restrictions necessitate that voters be informed of the records of incumbents and educated on the issued on a year-round basis - a task that the parties cannot accomplish.

Poised to fill this vacuum are nonprofit educational foundations. In interest of disclosure, I am the Director of Communications for an educational foundation, the Foundation for Conservative American Values ( http://FCAV.latest-info.com < http://FCAV.latest-info.com>). Educational foundations, along with think tanks and PACS can advance ideologies as opposed to political parties and candidates. They educate the electorate and foster greater accountability of elected officials. Educational foundations can work in areas marginalized by political power brokers, from communities that vote along racial lines, to colleges, churches and retirees. They can introduce diversity of opinion into areas dominated by liberal ideologues that use communities to advance their personal power.

A generational shift is aligning younger voters more with the Republican Party. While older generations have tended to be FDR or JFK Democrats, today's youth identify with George W. Bush. September 11, 2001 caused them to have concern over national security, to be more nationalistic and to see President Bush as the leader standing atop the rubble. This is great news for the Republican Party, but will mean little good for our nation if conservative principles are swept under a rug of big government "compassion."

This need not be the case; today's youth are more conservative than their recent predecessors. Across the nation, students are holding their professors accountable for anti-American bigotry; they are demanding ideological diversity and heckling left-wing ideologues that were once held in reverent awe. As is natural, most students are apolitical and many are liberal; however, there is now a strong pro-American sentiment. Along with the libertarian leanings of generations X and Y, there is a great opportunity for the advancement of the Goldwater Doctrine of limited government and Constitutional principals.

This opportunity will also allow the radical left to gain control of the message of Democrats. Among Democrats, the greatest grass roots support is for Howard Dean. Dean's support does not come from within the Democratic Party; indeed, they are often opposed to him. Freed from party control, Dean's supporters will shape the message - a message opposed by the majority of Americans. If we seize this opportunity, there is great hope for America.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

It seems that car thieves have found another way to steal your car or truck without any effort at all.

The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or truck, write down the VIN number from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN number.

The car dealer's parts dept will make a duplicate key from the VIN number and collect payment from the thief who will return to your car. He doesn't have to break in, do any damage to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself. All he has to do is to walk up to your car, insert the key and offhe goes to a local chop shop with your vehicle.

You don't believe it? It IS that easy.

To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some tape (electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN label located on the dash board.

By law, you cannot remove the VIN number, but you can cover it so it can't be viewed through the windshield by a car thief. I urge you to forward this to your friends before some other car thief steals another car or truck.

This Christmas, I will shop 'til I drop to find Christmas cards, and Christmas stamps that read 'MERRY CHRISTMAS'. If they are completely removed from the shelves, I will go home to my computer and the very first thing, send a protest to the store that removes them, regardless of who they are, then create Christmas cards on my own. We can always email our greetings in lieu of postage stamps, so retailers and postal "authorities", listen up. American consumers have the power and we can easily initiate that power in a matter of minutes. The reason?

I ask myself these questions every day, especially when my children come home and tell me how their teachers and bureaucrats, with my tax dollars, are playing mind altering games with their open vulnerable minds. That is, until they come home for lessons in truth and re-advised of their certain, inalienable, God given rights . . .

Are we still going to be the free country of choice, and still be America of liberty, if we continue to make the changes forced on us by people from other countries who came to live in America, clearly because it IS the Country of Choice? Will we continue down this road of devastation, without a peep or uprising? Or, will we just give up in defeat after all these years? Americans have got to be better than that !

Stop and think about it, because you have probably let yourself be caught up in the mind washing as well . . .

All I have to say is, when will the bureaucrats stand up like real men and do something to protect my rights, as they are sworn to do? I and my families before me celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by every single person living here, we will soon be denied our life long right to say Merry Christmas without looking over our shoulders, in fear that the PC Police may be listening.

Now they want to condition our minds into folding, accepting the secular term "Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" It will no longer be called in our education system or in retail store marketing as Christmas vacation.. It must be the secularly correct term, "Winter Break". Reminds me of secularism that is being shoved down our throats, forcefully and without backlash from very many. Are you one of those who has become a door mat for the small secular bureaucrats? We're going that route, swiftly. Some are now calling Thanksgiving "turkey day", alleviating anything that sounds as though we might be thankful to God. Instead, the secular snake rears it's head, while we stand by and watch!

How are we letting this get past us without so much as a complaint, and why do we buckle under this self discrimination so easily? Are we that easy to undermine? Will we also be ready to give up Easter and Thanksgiving? Are they eager to give up their Halloween and other secular days of remembrance? Just try it.

Isn't it amazing how this politically correct "winter break" only, always occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now among the millions who are being offended and finally speaking out. This is pure, undeniable socialist agenda in sheep's clothing, and we can't let this overcome our freedom, much less our commitment to the real reason we have chosen to celebrate December 25th for what it has always been - CHRISTmas! They had rather we celebrate the pagan santa claus with a tree decorated in chimes and charms to ward off the evil spirits. Well, if that really worked, the secular sect would be long gone. That is not the reason we celebrate, though they wish it were.

But it seems that no one has a problem with that. (What, so we shiver, curl up, die and give up our rights to Christmas? BAH-HUMBUG-LET THEM BE OFFENDED. NOW THEY KNOW HOW WE FEEL, BECAUSE THEY ARE DISCRIMINATING AGAINST YOU AND ME. SO - - - I HOPE YOU AND YOURS HAVE A VERY, MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND THAT YOUO WILL SPREAD THIS GREETING FAR AND WIDE! GET OUT OF THAT CORNER, RISE TO THE TOP AND EXERCISE YOUR FREE RIGHT TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS! )
This is editorial was written by an American citizen and bravely published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job, and spoke for the many millions of us citizens who share his sentiments exactly.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. IF WE WERE IN THEIR COUNTRY, WE WOULD ADAPT OR ELSE. I am sick & tired of the bureaucrats and socialist-driven people in this nation chewing their nails and worrying about whether they just might, per chance, unwittingly, perhaps remotely offend some individual or the culture from which they fled with a vengeance.

Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by a huge majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" insects began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others and tried to infect America's minds with their propaganda.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America, legally. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants who came here, legally. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of America being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own life style. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, wars, deaths and victories by millions of men and women who sought to protect our freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Not one single founding document was written in any of those lauguages. You can't change that, and since you can't, it's easier for you to give up trying. We will not allow it. Every document was drafted, written and made law in English. That's how it is. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language, accept our foundation, and stop trying to change our system that has worked, much better than your homeland, for well over 200 years.

---

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. It is not some right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. You can argue all you want but if you want to place viable argument, go look them up. Our laws were based on the Ten Commandments. Period. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. Live with it here or live with it anywhere you choose.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our life style. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are finished with complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE. If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it - - then try to reason your decision within yourself ! No one cares

If every one of us insists on keeping this and other holidays we hold dear as Americans, and keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, who will finally get our message, loud & clear. They will be convinced that we have had this right for over 200 years, and we intend to keep it that way. The door to tolerance and acceptance opens both ways !
