In the year 1996, Mankind was known as a demented man with no life but pain. He hadn't really had many title matches but definately wanted one. Shawn Michaels on the other hand had just won the World Wrestling Federation Championship at Wrestlemania 12. He had defeated many people for the Cahmpionshop and was now known as the most resilient WWF Champion there ever was. but Shawn had never faced a man like Mankind. A man that used to be known as Cactus Jack, the greatest hardcore wrestler ever. Shawn knew going the match that it would be a brutal one but no one, including Michaels and Mankind, that it would be the way it was. By the end, we would see people go through tables, people hit by chairs, people thrown in coffins, and this was all in a regular match! In the end, Shawn Michaels once again took the win with the (in my mind) regretable interference of Big Van Vader. Even though he didn not win the match, Mankind (Mick Foley) to this day still considers the match to his his greatest performance.
