SYNOPSIS
Vernon is a successful but harassed composer in need of a lyricist. He's paired up with Sonia, a wacky, neurotic wordsmith whole love life has just taken a nose dive. Their relationship is anything but harmonious - but together they do make beautiful music!
BACKGROUND
When They're Playing Our Song opened on Broadway on 11 February 1977, the occasion marked Neil Simon's first musical in 10 years; Marvin Hamlisch's first score since A Chorus Line and a return to the theatre for Carol Bayer Sager after years of success in the pop field. It was a smash hit.
They're Playing Our Song then opened
in London on 1 October 1980. It was actor Tom Conti's first musical
- also a smash hit.
