Hello, and welcome to the first commentary of The Super Nova. Now, normally, in a commentary, I would talk about all of the wonderful things that I witnessed during the week. Unfortunately, I can't do that. Why? Because I don't get the ONLY television show that ECW still has, Hardcore TV, and March's PPV is still a LONG LONG way away.
Am I happy? Not really. I mean, when I first saw ECW way back in '99 (Yes, it's true, I didn't watch the show until then), I was instantly hooked. The sheer brutality of it all just drew me in. Here was a group of people, with little to no concern, seemingly, of their own well-being, out there risking life and limb for 2 reasons -- they love it and to entertain us. I had never watched TNN in my life, but right then, I made plans to tune in every Friday night to catch a glimpse of someone. And then what happens to me? I get an internship in Washington, D.C. and our cable company doesnt' get TNN. So, from January to April-- No ECW for me. And then? I FINALLY get to somewhere with TNN and months later-- kaput. Nothin'.
As far as I'm concerned, ECW wrestlers are the best. They're down to earth, their fun, they're hard-working, and they actually like their fans. Isn't THAT a novel idea? Actually appreciating AND liking your fans? Well, when I went to an ECW show in July, I found that out. As the wrestlers stood around, willing to talk to their fans afterwards and happy to stop for pics or autographs before the show, I felt-- appreciated. Like the time and money I spend to go to their shows is actually worth something.
So, suffice it to say, I was disappointed as all hell when the Texas tour was cancelled. I HAD FRONT ROW SEATS!!!! Was I unhappy? You could say that. Was I extremely disheartened and ready to cry? Oh, hells yeah. It was my break. My time to regroup right before finals. And with one Instant Message from a friend, that was all gone. My hopes dashed.
What am I getting at here? I WANT MY ECW, DAMMIT!!! Yes, I know I probably sound like a raving lunatic, but I'm not. I'm just a distraught fan that wants her weekly (or at least monthly for Pete's sake) dose of Extreme.
Alas, there's no clue as to when I'll get it though, so I should depart now, and save some of my witty reparte and incessant ramblings for next week. Until then, have fun, stay extreme and dream of the day when we will turn to a national cable statin and here Joey Styles' voice erupt: "Hello! And Welcome to E-C-W!"
Well-- You’re looking at a sort of happy kitty. Why? Because Paul E. was on RAW!! When I heard his voice I was in total shock. Then when I saw him, I was in even more shock. I’ve heard from others that during breaks there were ECW chants. Well, I’d have been right there in with them!
Now, time for the question begging-- Where does this leave Nova? And what does this mean for this Sunday’s PPV? Will the show even go on? Is ECW truly dead?
What happens if ECW dies? Those few loyals Paul have-- Tommy Dreamer, Francine, Nova, Danny Doring-- will they come with him? WWF is currently getting ready to clean the roster some so as to fit more talent. If he can’t be in ECW, then I’d love to see Nova show up on WWF. He’s worked too hard to just be forgotten because of money troubles.
I’ve been thinking-- what to do with Nova if he came to WWF? First of all-- Keep him away from Stevie Richards! I wouldn’t want him to get anymore ideas of reviving the bWo. It may have been fun in its time, but that’s done. I don’t really see Nova joining any of the stables which are already set in place, either. What do I see? Perhaps-- an ECW within WWF?
Sound outlandish? Just give me a minute. You have Paul Heyman, Rhino and Justin Credible already. Now, what if Tommy, Francine, Nova, Danny, and maybe even Chetti (yeah, I’m grasping, but I really wanna see Chett LoL), come in with him? Well, you’ve got ECW right there. I dont’ know if RVD will be making an appearance (though I’d like him to) but he would just add to the group.
So, you’ve got all these people and what do you do? You pit them against the established WWF. You have all of these great workers coming into a company where the storylines are getting either lame or completely atrocious, and you shake it up. Then, with all of the superstars there that did time in ECW, you have people trying to choose sides. Personally, it would be great to see-- IF they work it right.
Yes, I have tons of ideas. Do I expect them to use them? Yeah, right. But, it’s my site and my commentary so I can say what I want. And this is what I want to see. Hell, I just want to see Nova!!!
Okay, that’s all for me right now. Check back later to see if I’ve babbled again.
