Long Distance Relationships and Useful Links

Not like many other
couples, we goes through our marriage live 'separately' right after our sad
'goodbye' in Canada. Both of us went back to our own countries, started the
immigration process and wait until we can be together again. In the mean
time we goes through long-distance relationship again. We hope this will be
the last time we do such thing... it is not all bad, but it really
needs strong commitment and courage from both sides.
Being 10,000 miles apart
from one another after marriage is not easy at all. Missing someone we do
love is the hardest part. Just remembering our 10 days time together will
surely bring tears to our eyes. But we need to pass through this critical
period so we can be together for good, physically.
The hurdles which also
become the challenges in LDR is how to 'stay close' to each other with such
distance and how to be strong enough to survive the wait. What we do
together mainly is maintain frequent contacts between us. Internet is really
a useful device for us, and also for any other couples with LDR, I think. We
send e-mails constantly. We chat everyday and though we are married now, we
still use our 'bachelor' and 'bachelorrete' Yahoo ID :o) We also can
talk to and see each other with microphones and webcam. Those are really
great stuff ! They really help us to mend our lonely feelings and keep each
other company from the distance. And the most important thing, they are also
the cheapest way to communicate effectively !!
We also keep doing the
more 'old-fashioned' way of communication, like phone calls, sending snail
mails and gifts. We exchange many pictures of ourselves, so Dennis and I
know what each other do and we can also 'experience' the other's moments.
Dennis even prints out my pictures on big photo papers and makes posters of
them and put them all over his bedroom walls. While I put his pictures in
photo frames and put them everywhere in my room, including in my office
room.

We plan to meet twice this year, sometimes in
mid year and Christmas. Dennis came here last August for 10 days and met my
families. We hope we will get some news from INS before Christmas, but
nobody knows what will happen. So we better get prepared for everything. In
the mean time we have to stay strong and strive to survive the wait. We are
happy because actually we are not alone during this 'miserable' times. There
are many people out there that share the same experience like us and they
are more than happy to help and encourage us. I am sure they will also do
the same to you who are in the similar situation like
us. You can find this nice people on several useful links below :
