Marriage Proposal

"Commitment
looks toward a future that cannot be seen, and promises to be there."
We fell in love with each other just less than 1
month after we first met online. But everything did not go easy for us. I have
never known true love until I met Dennis. He understands me, he is always there
whenever I need him, he supports me, gives me courage and self-respect, he is
always by my side in every situation, and the most important thing... he always
asks me just to be myself. With him, I grow into a 'better' person, and I always
feel happy and content.
I have never felt that way before. I was involved
with troubled man at that time, and he just did not want to let me go. I thought
I loved him and owed him so much. But Dennis made me realize that that was not
true. That was not love, and certainly not true love, and he helped me to get over
with it. I know he didn't do that for his own sake, but it is for my own
good. He only wanted me to be happy, with or without him. And what I had with
that man was not happiness. I always got scared and did not dare to speak of
myself. Dennis made me realize that I deserved something much better than that.
Finally, after went through some 'scary-nervous
breaking' situation, I could get it over and we could be really together as
couples without anyone standing between us. I am really thankful for Dennis and
for all his kindness and patience that is beyond compare.

After around 2 months we
became couples, Dennis really took our relationship seriously. He kept asking me
if I would marry
him, and I always said 'I don't know' or 'you are crazy'... (poor Dennis... :o))
But he didn't give up. He asked if I would at least consider it and I said yes. He was soooo happy... but it was not enough for him. I also told him that
I need my parents' approval for it, but he said that wouldn't be a problem.
Dennis asked me again about it the next day and
the day after and the day after until I finally said that I could not answer it
on the net. At that time what I mean was he should come and see me in person to
ask me about it. But Dennis is really a person full of creativity. He told me
that he would disconnect from the internet and call me right away so he could
ask that question in person ! And he did !!!
'Will you marry me ?' that what he said on the
phone. I was speechless, I could not say anything... I've never had this kind of
breath-taking experience before. There was a long silence, then I said 'I don't
know what to say'. Dennis said, 'Well, you can say 'yes, I will' or 'no, I
won't'. I took a deep breath, preparing my answer and finally I only could say
one word: 'YES!'
Dennis was so happy and so do I. He told everyone
he knew about it and bragged to everybody. He promised to talk with my parents
about it and ask for their blessings. I was so excited, I have never thought
that this thing could happen to me, and I have never thought that I would be
this happy. That was really a great day of our lives.
A couple of weeks after Dennis proposed me, when
we talked again on the net, we said our first 'marriage vows' online. We thought
we needed rehearsal for it ... LOL !!! We typed our vows online and Dennis
said it would not be legal without a witness. So he took his ferret, Lucy, and
held her close to the monitor to become our witness :o))

Lucy as our 'witness'
We will treasure this moment forever !! That was
the most romantic thing that we did on the net !!!

Dennis told his mom and families right away about
me and about his plan to marry me. He comes from a 'very western' family so he
really did not hesitate on telling anything about his doing. I also talked with his
mom on the net, she is a very nice lady, she is very friendly and cheerful. She
was glad that Dennis met me and she was so happy about our wedding plan.
On the contrary, I come from a 'very eastern'
family that is a little bit conservative. So I was really careful in introducing
Dennis to my parents and my brother. It is not very strange for Indonesian
people meeting someone on the net, but it's also not very common to fall in love
with someone that we have not really met in person. I was also a bit scared that
my parents would get 'shocked', especially if they knew about the wedding plan,
and they would forbid me to have relationship with him. But Dennis insisted that
I should introduce him to my families and he wanted to meet them and asked their
blessings as soon as possible.
So on September when my parents came to visit me
in Jakarta, I introduced Dennis to them through the internet. They were quite
surprised to know that I had an 'internet friend' and they were really amazed by
how we could communicate very easily to anyone in this world. Dennis talked to
them by voice, he even used his webcam and I translated for them. My mom knows English quite well, but my
dad does not. They asked him many things, starting from where he comes from, his
education, his jobs, his families... they were really curious about him...
In the end, it turned out that they liked
each other
quite well, including my brother. He even talked with Dennis in voice for hours
! I felt glad and soooo relieved ! At least now our families know about us and
how we love each other. It was such a great feeling that they could get along
together very well and did not have any objections on our relationship.
