Tips for You

Maybe some of you are wondering: 'Is internet romance for real ?' or 'Could people really fall in love on the internet ?' or even 'Can people fall in love with someone that he/she has not even met in person ?' ... Well, having experience it by myself, I think the answer for those questions is "YES".

Some of internet romances are for real. Some people do fall in love on the internet and many of them continue their relationship into their real lives. Internet relationships are very different than personal ones. When you meet someone in person, your first impression on him/her would be very much affected by their looks or voices or by other 'visual' things. While these 'visual' things are not the main value that you want in a relationship, these things sometimes hinder you from 'seeing' their true colors which represent the person's real quality, whether they are worth for you or not. To 'see' their real personality, you need to build deeper and intense communication with that person, which sometimes difficult to do in real life. While on internet, all you do is just communication and communication. That way you can 'see' their personality even before you see them in person and you can fall in love with it.

However, internet romances also have 'dark' and gloomy sides. Many people experienced bad things on internet romances, from broken hearts to losing even their belongings, mostly money. There are some ways to prevent it from happening to you so you can have a happy and healthy relationship with someone on the internet. Here are some tips that I got from various sources :

1. Security Tips

Limit your personal information that you supply to someone you just met. This is the same thing that also applied in real life. Don't tell them your real name, your home address or phone number until you are sure that they are good people and they won't harass you. One way to know whether someone is 'crazy' or not is just by listening to what they said about their past relationships. People who used to dump their partners without any good reasons will have tendencies to do the same to you.

If you want to send them e-mails, use free e-mail services, such as yahoo or hotmail. And if you are using yahoo chats, then make sure that you don't mention anything personal in your profile.

2. Honesty Tips

Don't lie. That's it. You can 'hide' your identity at first, but never lie about anything else if you really want to have good relationship on the internet. Lying to your partner or prospective partner or even just your friend could jeopardize all the things you have built with them. And it wont only hurt them, but it will hurt you also in some way. Honesty is number requirement on the internet romance. You will be surprised to see that people who already like your personality, won't care much about your look or your other personal matters. Exchange your photographs as soon as you feel it safe.

3. Are you the only one ?

One of the bad possibility on internet romance is it is possible to have many partners at the same time. If you can talk to many people the same time you talk with your partner, then it will be the same for them. To check on this, you can ask for his/her phone number. People who are dishonest with their relationships usually are reluctant to give it. Once you get the number, you should ring it and check if it's really his/hers. If it is, you can try to call on 'unexpected' time and see who picks up the phone. You should also watch out for 'sudden interruption' on your communication. If he/she suddenly get disconnected from internet without any clear explanations, it could be their real-life partners catch them on the act ! Other thing you can do is to have background check on your partner, but it will be difficult to do in some countries that don't have good personal data on their people.

Those are some tips that you could use in your internet romance. Hope you have great time with your loved one !
