Unicorn & Pegasus

Many people, especially those who are not familiar with mythical creatures, think that unicorn and pegasus are the same. Actually there are big differences between those two. I think the only thing they have in common is they both are horses-like creatures.

Unicorn

The unicorn is a legendary creature shaped like a horse but with a single, spiral horn growing out of its forehead. They like to use their horn as a lance when charging the enemy. They are intelligent, magical creatures, which tend to dispel magic that is targeted at them. The horn of a Unicorn is said to have great healing powers. Unicorns are powerful and keep themselves hidden from humans so that their powers are not misused.

Unicorn horns were commonly believed to be able to neutralize poisons. Therefore, people who feared poisoning sometimes drank from goblets made of "unicorn horn".

The unicorn was also a common symbol of purity and holiness. The unicorn is also a national symbol of Scotland and appears on many British symbols.
