Latest reports from FOX say that while Beast is a lock, Gambit will not appear in the next X-Men movie. Word is that at FOX "No one seems to like the idea. It's been thrown around, as have Nightcrawler, Colossus and Angel." But they feel that the character would be "too similar to Wolverine, and there's already the tough guy thing going on between Wolverine and Cyclops." FOX also says that there's next to no activity on the project right now.

As for the villain: "The main villain will be Magneto, but the Sentinels will play a major part if they follow through on what they've been talking about."

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman recently spoke of the sequel, saying, "The entire original cast will be back along with director Bryan Singer. I'm thrilled to come back and do it. It was great fun, and the fans embraced it."

When asked if the romantic angle of Logan and Jean Grey's relationship might be heating up for the second film, Jackman says, "I think Old Wolfie gets a few romantic possibilities in the sequel. He doesn't want to narrow it down to one X-Woman. He's a little afraid of commitment."
